Get your first scan running in 5 minutes. This simplified guide walks you through the absolute basics without overwhelming detail.
1. Rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise until you hear a "click" 2. The radio will display the home screen with frequency/channel info 3. Rotate the knob clockwise to increase volume to a comfortable level 4. You're ready to scan!
1. Press the Menu Button (①) briefly 2. Use Direction Keys (↑↓) to navigate to "Radio" 3. Press Menu Button to select 4. Navigate to "Scan Mode" and press Menu Button 5. Select "Channel Mode" (if you have channels stored) 6. Press Menu Button to confirm 7. Press the assigned Scan Key (or side key if configured) 8. The radio will now cycle through channels and pause on active signals! TIP: If no channels are stored, the radio will show "No valid channels" — see the "Channel Setup" section to add channels first.
Simply press any key or wait for the scan to complete. The radio will return to standby mode.
When scanning finds an active signal: • The radio will pause on that frequency/channel • You'll hear the transmission through the speaker • The display will show the current frequency or channel number • After 5 seconds (in Time Mode), scanning resumes automatically If you hear nothing, check: ✓ Volume is turned up ✓ Squelch (SQL) is not set too high ✓ You're in an area with active radio traffic
